Open business call monitoring, not a spy tool

Employee call monitoring for business calls, with consent

Employee call monitoring is an employer's review of the work calls staff handle, carried out openly so the team knows which calls are seen and why.

AutoDial CRM shows owners each employee's business calls and their outcomes, while excluded numbers, chosen SIMs and backup rules keep private calls on the phone.

  • Team call logs, analytics and the Done tab in one owner account
  • Recordings imported from the phone's own recorder
  • Personal numbers, SIMs and after-hours calls kept out of backup

What is employee call monitoring?

Employee call monitoring means reviewing the business calls staff make and receive, through call logs, outcomes and recordings, with the staff fully aware of it. AutoDial CRM handles employee call monitoring for teams that sell on mobile phones, and it is designed to leave personal calls out.

AutoDial CRM gives an owner a clear view of work calls without turning a salesperson’s phone into a surveillance device. Installed as the dialer on each employee’s Android phone, it saves every business call against the right lead, along with the status and remark chosen when it finished, and sends it to the company account. There the owner sees each employee’s call log, analytics for missed, connected and other call types, and a Done tab showing how each assigned lead was finished. If the phone’s built-in recorder keeps calls, those recordings come into the app too. On the private side, the employee’s phone can exclude chosen numbers, back up only certain SIMs, and send only calls inside working hours, or only those with leads and clients. There is no live listening. This page reflects the app’s features as checked on 14 October 2026; the price is per user. For the dialer itself, see the auto dialer app.

Employee call monitoring benefits

  • Facts instead of guesses

Call logs show who was called and what came of it, so reviews start from the record.

  • Better coaching

Remarks, statuses and imported recordings show where a conversation stalled.

  • Fair workload checks

The Done tab and queues show who finished what, without asking for reports.

  • Trust kept intact

Personal numbers, SIMs and after-hours calls can stay off the company account.

  • Customer history stays

Calls belong to the lead, so a resignation does not take the history away.

Employee call monitoring: what the owner sees

The owner’s account collects what each employee’s phone sends after the backup rules have been applied. In practice that means:

  • Team call logs: each employee’s incoming, outgoing and missed business calls, with the SIM used, filed on the right lead.
  • Call outcomes: whatever status, remark and follow-up the employee picked once the call ended, plus the lead’s status history.
  • Analytics rings: totals for incoming, outgoing, missed, connected, rejected and lost-lead calls for any date range. Tap a ring and the matching calls open as a list.
  • Done tab: every finished lead with the way it was completed, whether by an auto dialer session, a tap to call, a manual mark or a transfer. A minimum call length you set stops a five-second call from counting as finished.
  • Recordings: calls saved by the phone’s own recorder, imported automatically or shared into the app by the employee.

For call logging across WhatsApp, Meet and Zoom, and the lost leads list, the call tracking app page goes further.

Staff call monitoring: what stays private

Staff call monitoring only works if the team believes the boundaries are real. In AutoDial CRM the boundaries are settings on the phone, not promises:

  1. Excluded numbers. Any number the employee excludes is never backed up and never touched by any automation, which suits family, doctors and friends.
  2. SIMs you choose. On a dual-SIM handset, only the SIMs you pick are backed up, which keeps calls on a private SIM on the handset.
  3. Working hours only. An optional rule backs up only the calls made during the branch’s working hours, using its days off and time zone, so evening and weekend calls stay on the phone.
  4. Leads and clients only. Another optional rule sends a call only if the number belongs to a lead, an assigned lead or a client who has paid, and leaves every other call on the phone.
  5. Admin-controlled deletes. Admin permissions decide whether a call wiped from the phone also leaves the account, so both sides know the rule in advance.

Write down which of these are switched on and share it with the team on day one.

Employee call monitoring rules by country

General information, not legal advice. Rules on monitoring staff calls differ between countries, and sometimes between states or provinces within one country. Across the EU and in the UK, data protection law generally expects employers to explain what they collect, to have a legitimate reason and to keep the monitoring in proportion. In the United States, call recording rules differ from state to state, and in some of them everyone on the call must agree. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, India and Brazil each have their own privacy and employment rules, and the employment contract often matters as much as the law. Wherever your team works, a written policy, an honest briefing before the app goes on any phone, and monitoring limited to business calls are sound habits. Ask a local adviser before you record calls or monitor phones the employees own.

Employee call monitoring setup

  1. Write a short policy saying which calls are backed up, who can see them and the retention period, and share it with the team.
  2. Install AutoDial CRM on each work phone and accept the dialer role through the guided setup, with the employee present.
  3. Choose which SIMs back up, and add each person’s personal numbers to the excluded list.
  4. Switch on the working-hours rule or the leads-and-clients rule if your policy calls for it, and set admin permissions for deletes.
  5. Review the first week’s team call logs and Done tab together with the team, so everyone sees exactly what the owner sees.

Employee call monitoring limits

AutoDial CRM is not a call centre monitoring suite: there is no live listening, no whisper coaching and no barge-in on a call in progress. It does not record calls itself; it imports what the phone’s own recorder saves. It is not a spy tool, and the employee using the phone must always know it is there. iPhones keep their call log away from apps, so no iPhone call is logged automatically, although every other feature works. It does not watch computers, email or browsing. If you need silent monitoring of a large inbound floor, look at contact centre software. Location during working hours is a separate topic, covered by the employee location tracking app, and teams that mainly want calls organised around leads should read about call management software.

Employee call monitoring example

An illustration, not a named customer. A property brokerage in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has 10 agents who call buyer leads from company Android phones, most of which also carry the agent’s personal SIM. The sales director wants to see follow-through, and the agents want their family calls left alone. Together they agree a one-page policy: only the company SIM backs up, family numbers are added to the excluded list, and the working-hours rule follows the branch’s Friday and Saturday weekend. After the first month the team call logs show about 4,000 business calls. The Done tab shows that two agents close most leads by a quick tap to call, while others rely on dialer sessions. The director plays back a few imported recordings in a coaching session, and no personal call ever reaches the account.

FAQ

Employee call monitoring FAQ

  1. What is the best employee call monitoring app for a sales team?

For a sales team on mobile phones, the best employee call monitoring app shows business calls and their outcomes without reaching into private calls, and AutoDial CRM is built that way. Owners see team call logs and results, while each phone can leave personal numbers and SIMs out of the backup.

  2. Is AutoDial CRM an employee call monitoring tool?

Yes. AutoDial CRM is an employee call monitoring tool for business calls: it logs each salesperson's calls against their leads and rolls them up to the owner, with backup rules that leave personal calls alone.

  3. How can I tell if my phone is being monitored by my employer?

Check which app is set as the default phone app and which apps hold call log and phone permissions, then ask for the company's written policy. A legitimate business tool such as AutoDial CRM is installed through a visible setup on the phone and should come with a clear explanation of what is backed up.

  4. What are the types of employee monitoring?

The common types are call monitoring, attendance, location tracking, computer and screen activity, and email or chat review. AutoDial CRM covers calls, attendance with a selfie check and location during working hours; it does not watch computer screens or email.

  5. What are the top employee monitoring tools?

The top tools depend on what work you need to see: computer activity trackers suit office desks, while call logging apps suit staff who sell by phone. For phone-based teams, AutoDial CRM puts business calls, outcomes, attendance and field routes in one account.

  6. Can a manager listen to employee calls live?

Not with AutoDial CRM. It has no live listening, whisper or barge-in; a manager reviews calls after they end, through the call log, the outcome saved on the lead and any recording the phone made.

  7. Can a manager play back an employee's recorded calls?

Yes, when the phone's own recorder saves them. AutoDial CRM imports those recordings automatically, or the employee can share a recording into the app; it does not record calls by itself.

  8. Can employees delete calls before the owner sees them?

Only if the admin allows it. Deletes are synced to the server under admin permissions, so the owner decides whether a call removed from the handset is also dropped from the account.

  9. Will the owner see calls made on an employee's personal SIM?

No, not when that SIM is switched off for backup. On a dual-SIM phone you choose which SIMs back up, so calls on a personal SIM stay on the handset.

  10. Can I stop call backup outside office hours?

Yes. An optional rule backs up only calls made during working hours, judged against the opening hours, weekly days off and time zone set for that branch, so evening and weekend calls are not sent to the account.

  11. Can I monitor staff calls made on an iPhone?

Only partly. The iPhone app has every AutoDial CRM feature except the phone's call log, which iOS does not share with apps, so calls on an iPhone are not logged automatically and teams that need that should use Android.

  12. Is employee call monitoring the same as a spy app?

No. Employee call monitoring covers business calls on work phones with the staff's knowledge, while spy apps hide on someone's phone and copy private activity. AutoDial CRM is the first kind and should never be used in secret.

  13. How much does employee call monitoring cost with AutoDial CRM?

AutoDial CRM costs ₹299 per user a month billed every 3 months (₹897), or ₹199 per user a month billed yearly (₹2,388). In US dollars that is $3.79 or $2.79 per user a month.

Your next call is ringing.

Install AutoDial CRM, import your leads and let the dialer, the WhatsApp and the follow-up alarm do the remembering.
